Maths is a language of numbers. Maths is a subject that is used across the various other subjects
as well as in our daily life. It is, therefore, crucial that the foundation of Maths is well laid in
child. As the concepts are built on what is learned earlier and they become more complex with
growing years. So, if the concept is not clearly explained to students when it is first taught then
the child will face problem understanding this in later stages.
At EduPlum we understand the necessity of explaining each concept in a proper way till the child
has gained clear understanding of it. Our concept-based learning brings "real world" meaning to
students' knowledge and skills. So, whatever concept is taught to the students it is taught in a
way that the child learns its application in life rather than just memorising it. The students take
with them the "big ideas" taught in the class for life.
In Kindergarten the children are introduced to numbers and simple concepts like Addition,
Subtraction, Comparison and Order. In Grade 1 building on these concepts bigger numbers are
introduced and children learn to play with bigger numbers along with more complex Skip
Counting, Greater than/Less Than, Before-Between-After, and others. Children are also taught
about Money and Measurement, important parts of our day to day life. It is very important that
the child is guided through each of these concepts properly so that they understand how these
concepts are interrelated and how these have practical usage in our life.
EduPlum has systematically planned a list of Math topics that are essential for all Grade 1
students. Each of these Maths topics is described in detail by our teachers with use of our
meticulously crafted resource materials such as Maths worksheets, interactivities, games – both
physical and digital, on-field games and activities, Mathematical tools and other aids.
